Independent Language Learning
Advice and one-to-one guidance on how to learn a language in your own time
(this resource is provided by: The Library)
What is this resource about?
Staff can offer you advice and guidance on how to maximise your use of the LRC and its facilities to learn a language in your own time.
If you would like to register as an independent learner with us download a copy of the Language Learner Profile form [pdf] and bring it along to the LRC to arrange a convenient appointment.
The form will enable you to interpret the success of previous learning methods, identify your reasons for learning a language and aid you in prioritising your objectives. On the basis of the information you provide, we will endeavour to introduce you to materials which address the skills that best help you to learn a language, highlighting the effectiveness of different language learning media available in the Languages Resource Centre.
You should be prepared to commit yourself to a realistic study schedule and, as well as showing you ways in which you can monitor your own progress, we can also arrange regular guidance and support through one-to-one meetings or email.
