Understanding Yourself

Working your way through the 3D Graduate website is one of the best ways to make sure you get the most from your time at Goldsmiths.

From helping you to discover your preferred learning style to identifying your career options, from finding out how to get involved in volunteer work to knowing the best way to complete a CV - it’s all on here!

Introduction

This first section will get you thinking about you, and the areas you may want to improve or develop in yourself which will help you in your studies and your long-term development.

How it will help you

The exercises here will help you in:
  • Reflecting: on past skills gained, on successes and failures
  • Planning: how you are going to develop the skills that you want or need in order to complete your degree, follow a specific career or achieve a personal goal
The aim is:
  • to develop your capacity to understand what and how you are learning
  • to review and reflect on your own learning successes (and failures)
  • to use that insight and experience to help you in your personal, academic and career development
  • to help you develop as a person, in your wider attributes and values

Your Portfolio

The 3d Graduate programme is most beneficial if you work through the three levels and the exercises in a methodical, step by step, way. We hope you will want to save every exercise you complete, print it and add it to a folder. This folder will constitute a your ‘3D Graduate Personal Development Portfolio (PDP)’.

PDP’s are being increasingly encouraged in the workplace. Once you have put together a portfolio, not only will it act a useful record of your development, but it will be a useful tool to refer back to when you need to evidence your planning and development at university. A portfolio can be incredibly useful tool when you come to complete job applications or go for an interview.

If you would like your own folder please contact the 3d Graduate team 3d@gold.ac.uk
