How many people will I share with?

Batavia Mews is made up of 13 self-contained flats. The flats can accommodate between 7-20 people depending on the size. Seven bed flats share one kitchen and two bathrooms. The 20 bed flat shares two kitchens and shares four bathrooms. All the rooms in the hall are for single occupancy.

Most single rooms (ie not ensuite) are accommodated with a sink and vary in room size. Students will have access to shared kitchens and bathrooms. You'll have access to the laundry on the Loring Hall site. Not all study bedrooms are equipped with an individual washbasin. The allocation of rooms is randomly selected and rent is at a slightly lower rate if you don't have a washbasin.

There is no car parking at Batavia Mews. There is a bicycle rack at the rear of the building, and bikes are left there at the owner’s risk. You are encouraged to have insurance cover and an adequate lock. Bikes cannot be kept in bedrooms or any other area inside Batavia Mews.

Rubbish from the kitchen is collected throughout the week and communal areas are cleaned regularly (except bank holidays and college closure days). Recycling bags are provided in your kitchens too. Royal Mail deliver post directly to the flats in the hall.

Students can connect to the Internet using the campus wifi, which is included in the cost of the room.

We always have staff covering the halls, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  Your administration office is Loring Hall. Outside of office hours a team of three resident assistants are available and will display a copy of the duty rota within relevant areas. The rotas are also emailed to all current residents. There is a security officer on duty at night located at the rear of Batavia Mews.
