2009 Dean Lecture

Building London's Future - delivered by Tessa Jowell MP

Goldsmiths were very pleased to welcome The Rt Hon Tessa Jowell MP, Minister for the Olympics, Cabinet Office and London and a former student of the College back to campus on Tuesday 20 October to deliver the Dean Lecture.

The annual event was founded in 1963 to commemorate Arthur Dean CBE, Warden of the College from 1927-1950.  Since then it has been delivered by a range of eminent individuals from a variety of fields.

Tessa's lecture - Building London's Future - focused on the city that will emerge from the economic downturn and the role of London 2012 in fuelling the economic recovery, bringing communities closer together, and driving positive social change.

The event was well attended by alumni, staff, students and friends of the College and we were pleased that so many people could join us for the lecture and drinks before and after the event.

The event was advertised to alumni through our new alumni e-newsletter.  If you would like to hear about similar events in the future then send an email entitled SUBSCRIBE with your name, course studied and year of graduation to alumni (@gold.ac.uk)

We will be posting a video of the lecture on our web pages shortly so that those who could not attend don't miss out.
