Goldsmiths celebrates student scholarships and bursaries at annual awards ceremony

Goldsmiths is committed to supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students and has a range of scholarships and bursaries worth more than £1.8 million available for home, EU and international students. This is one of the most generous financial support packages of any London university, and is offered to widen access to the College and to help our students reach their full potential.

Each year, Goldsmiths hosts an awards ceremony to celebrate the successes of our scholarships and bursaries students. We caught up with some as they celebrated with friends and family.
 

Rumel Miah

Mayor’s New Cross Award

“The award means a lot to me it will help me in numerous ways on my BA Fine Art study. Some of the art and photography materials are expensive, that's why I'm so grateful that I have been chosen out of many for the award.

Studying at Goldsmiths makes me feel I am part of a group. Goldsmiths seeks out the inner potential of every student and I'm glad that I'm studying at this university.

This award will help with my ambition for the future.”

Humanitarian Scholarship Awards

“In Palestine, the financial and political situation is difficult and the programme I am studying wasn’t available. I wanted to come to London and simply wouldn’t have been able to without this scholarship. This scholarship has helped me to achieve my goal.

There is a big difference between the education system in Palestine and in the UK; here we are encouraged to look at things with a critical eye and analyse theories.

I am really happy to be at Goldsmiths as I believe this is the right way to learn.”
