Goldsmiths has an international reputation for creativity, innovation, and cutting-edge research. The Business Development Office works with staff and students to connect people and organizations outside the College with the research and know-how to address their unique challenges.
The Business Development Office stimulates research and consultancy based on conversations with businesses and Third Sector organizations about their needs, issues and aspirations. We apply Goldsmiths’ multi-disciplinary approach - using expertise from the Arts and Humanities, Performing Arts, Design, Social Science and Computing in unusual, fertile and productive combinations - to questions of innovation, customer insight, new markets, and better processes for our partners.
This is Knowledge Transfer, but in a unique way - one based on creative collaboration between seekers and users of knowledge than on straight technology transfer.
We work in three broad streams:
Contract and Collaborative Research
We help fund research through collaborative Knowledge Transfer initiatives such as those run by Research Councils, the Technology Strategy Board, and the London Development Agency, as well as through contracts with interested firms and organizations.
Consultancy
We provide access to Goldsmiths’ array of talent and expertise through PureGoldsmiths, the College’s commercial consultancy arm.
IP Management
We develop the College’s portfolio of Intellectual Property through licensing, IP bundling in collaboration with contract partners and spin-out company activity.
