Who we are
Julie Taylor – Head of Business DevelopmentJulie is responsible for facilitating collaboration and strategic partnerships between the full breadth of Goldsmiths’ research and learning activities and a diverse range of external organisations in the private, public and third sectors.
Prior to joining Goldsmiths in 2008, Julie was Head of Knowledge Transfer at the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). In this capacity she developed and delivered the UK’s first Knowledge Transfer strategy and resultant funding programmes for this research community. Before taking up a full-time position in higher education, Julie worked for over fifteen years as an award-winning television producer and director.
Julie represents Goldsmiths as a member of The London Centre for Arts and Cultural Exchange (LCACE) and Knowledge East and leads on the Business Development Office’s support for Goldsmith’s new Institute for Creative and Cultural Enterprise (ICCE).

Aidan Sheridan – Business Development Manager
Aidan joined the department in 2005, working as part of a team to develop and execute the business strategy, with a specific role of managing and delivering the Exchange business support initiate. His job involves mentoring, supporting and working with academics, students and graduates to develop spin-out businesses and business services, generated out of the intellectual property from academic research and studies, and then selling these services to the business community.
Aidan comes from a very creative background, launching his career as a Design Studio and Print Production Services Manager, then working within publishing, promotional sales, marketing and exhibition organizing. He then started producing film memorabilia and paintings, a career he pursued for a number of years. He then took a position as an Enterprise Advisor to start-up Creative Businesses His role involved delivering business advice to Creative practitioners and researching and connecting up all support agency resources in the West Midlands focused on supporting Creative and Cultural businesses. Aidan combined the services available through Business Link with these agencies to help individuals and businesses develop a business strategy, to support long-term viability and growth. He also helped set up and run an incubator for Creative industry start-up businesses at Wolverhampton University Science Park.
There was an interesting shift in business support industry in which he saw universities taking a far more active and more effective role in supporting businesses. The University of Central England started up the Technical Innovation Centre (TIC) and began to deliver some very exciting services. It was this that prompted him to join Goldsmiths.

Emmy Harrup - Secretary
Emmy has been secretary to the BDO since mid-2011, and secretary to the Research Office since 2008. She now divides her time between both departments.
