Event overview
Delivered by Mike Stimson
The communication skills used in coaching can be applied in many workplace conversations; especially effectively by those with management or team leadership responsibilites. These skills - basically listening and questioning rather than telling and advising - can be used informally in one to ones and more formally in reviewing performance (i.e. PDR). Sometimes called a 'coaching style' of management, they can be useful when dealing with day to day issues as they come up - helping colleagues to find and implement solutions rather than relying on the manager to have the answers. This can be more satisfying for both parties - more time for the manager and more empowerment for the managed. This workshop will give participants practical experience using the GROW model of coaching.
