Event overview
Graduates from the Department of Design return to Goldsmiths for a series of pop-up exhibitions of new work.
Out there is a world filled with complexity and contradictions, built from infinite intertwining systems where change is the only constant, where uncertainty is certain and defining is problematic. Here you will find a design practice that acknowledges, engages with, enjoys and acts upon the complexity of the world. Here you will navigate through fields of interrogation which intersect and then separate, which connect and then contradict”, says the manifesto.
Alaine Burns / The Interconnected Web Of Things
The project analyses the world around us by using Assemblage Theory. Blending fact and fiction, new geographies are created which highlights intrinsic links between you and the rest of the world.
Will Gubbins / Touch At a Distance
The project facilitates escapism through active engagement with soundscapes, audio-architecture and communication with one another. By dislocating one sense, the other senses are re-evaluated.
Daniel Nasr / Migrants of Circumstance
The project is an investigation into how community based education can empower and enable refugees to learn and thrive outside traditional, institutionalised educational practice.
Lukas Valiauga / Investigations of Luck
This project imagines what it would be like if personal luck was an object of trade. An index value to speculate someone’s success; buy a person in shares and become someone’s shareholder.
Artist Talks: Thursday 3rd September 18:00 - 19:00
