Services to current students

  • 15-minute appointments with an adviser can help you work out what you want to do, find out how to build experience for your CV and get feedback on your written applications or interview technique.  Our advisers will cover anything careers-related whether it's postgraduate study, becoming an artist or getting a graduate job.  These are bookable in person or by phone 020 7919 7137 from 9.30am for a same day appointment, Monday to Thursday.

  • A CV Surgery is held every Tuesday and Thursday, 11-11.30 am (no booking necessary). Learn how to write a CV that stands out from the crowd. These small group workshops give advice on the best layout, language and content.  

  • Our careers library has take-away and reference information for you to find out more about particular careers, employers, applying for jobs, postgraduate study and funding.   Find a list of available books here.    You can also visit our Careers Tagged site, a graduate careers portal designed for University of London students, and provided by The Careers Group, which is the best way to find useful websites recommended by careers professionals.  We have books and leaflets online, click here to find them.

  • Online graduate careers information : Whilst we can't give any assurance as to the quality of the information on the Web, it is good to begin with the more well known portals.  Sort_it  is a collection of interactive modules designed to increase your ability to manage your career, from choosing your future path to settling into your new job.  Graduate Prospects: a national graduate careers portal where you can search for graduate jobs, find a placement or take part in discussions on a variety of topics in the Graduate forum

  • Events throughout the term include employer presentations, job hunting, interview and CV workshops, personality tests and a work experience fair.  The employer sessions are good way to meet people from different sectors and hear about the best routes in.  View our current Events Programme here

  • Vacancies updated daily online and we have additional opportunities on our noticeboards at Laurie Grove. Please go to the jobs section for more information.

  • Practice Interviews If you have an interview for a job or postgraduate study we will run through some questions and give you feedback on your performance.

In addition

  • International students may have questions around job hunting in a different country and visa red tape.  We run specific workshops for international students and also produce two handouts to help make your transition as smooth as possible.  International Futures from The Careers Group, University of London is a community where you can share information and experiences, ask questions and get advice.

  • Masters students are encouraged to visit us early in the year.  In most departments we offer specific careers talks for Masters students.  Please check with you departmental careers liaison tutor. We also offer a series of bespoke workshops, Marketing your Masters, which cover cv's, applications, understanding the job market and job hunting.

  • PhD students We run a series of workshops designed for PhD students which help you assess and present your experience and find out the best routes to academic and non-academic career options. 

  • Reach Diversity Mentoring Programme reach is an online community designed for University of London students who feel they face barriers to reaching their potential. These may include social background, disability, age, gender and sexual orientation – it all depends on the individual and the career they are aiming for.

Graduating this year?

The Goldsmiths Careers Service is free of charge for all Goldsmiths students until

  • 31 July of your year of graduation if you are an undergraduate
  • 30 September of your year of graduation if you are a postgraduate
GradClub membership lets you use Goldsmiths Careers Service for up to two years after graduation.  Some services are free of charge and some are heavily discounted for members.  You can also use The Careers Group’s premium service in Central London.

GradClub costs £25 if you join before 31 July of your year of graduation (30 September for postgraduate students) and £55 if you join after this date.
