Careers guidance
Quick Query advice sessions
These sessions are available with our experienced careers consultants most afternoons. An advice session lasts 15 minutes and you can use this time to discuss any career-related queries you may have. For example you may want help with career choice, talk through relevant options or talk about postgraduate study.
Usually advice sessions run at the following times:
| Monday | 2 pm to 4.30 pm |
| Tuesday | 2 pm to 4.30 pm |
| Wednesday | 2 pm to 4.30 pm |
| Thursday | 2 pm to 4.30 pm |
Please contact the Careers Service in advance, if travelling specifically to see a Careers Consultant.
You can pre-book a time slot with a Careers Consultant - just telephone or call in to the office in person from 9.30am for an appointment that same afternoon. There are six appointments available each afternoon, each lasting approximately 20-25 minutes. If you are unable to come to the careers service during these sessions, we do offer appointments at other times of the day when the Careers Service is open. Please contact us at least 48 hours in advance to arrange an alternative time. We will try to offer an appointment time immediately. If this is not possible we will aim to offer an appointment time within a working day.
Longer interview
Where appropriate, a careers consultant may suggest you come back for a longer interview. This would be to discuss any issues which cannot be sufficiently explored in a drop-in session.
CV Surgery
Every Tuesday and Thursday, 11-11.30 am (no need to book in advance). These small group workshops give advice on the best layout, language and content. Bring along your CV if you have one.
Computer-aided careers guidance
The Careers Service has two guidance packages in its information rooms: Prospects Planner and Adult Directions. Both are designed to help you make choices and decisions in career planning.
