“I wanted to study politics abroad to get a more varied and well-rounded perspective. I applied to several international relations programs, before coming across Goldsmiths’ MA in International Studies by chance. I was intrigued with the Goldsmiths approach to teaching modern global politics in the context of history and culture rather than just the usual facts, figures, and institutions. The program has heightened my abilities to observe, think critically, rationalize, and – more importantly – understand global politics. The professors
not only encourage, but go above and beyond to nurture the individual interests of students. Goldsmiths and its instructors offer a refreshingly alternative critique to the changing world around us that I would not have found at another UK institution.”

“Picking a university is important. I chose Goldsmiths because of its high reputation in teaching and its creative atmosphere. I saw that Goldsmiths had just launched a new postgraduate programme, MA Brand Development, which was the only one I found that focused on social and cultural aspects across various industries, rather than business or design orientation. It’s a good balance to combine my previous practical experience with theoretical studies. The best thing about studying Brand Development at Goldsmiths is its interdisciplinarity. The course has close links with neighbouring departments with a wide range of options like media and communication, sociology, and cultural entrepreneurship. It has increased my knowledge and understanding of branding and contemporary issues; what is more, it expanded my view to see brands and branding in more critical ways.”

“Goldsmiths has a positively ‘out of the ordinary’, encouraging and amicable atmosphere. My course is very much inspiring and intellectually provocative. The most beneficial ingredients are its theoretical scope and multidisciplinary attitude. The range of themes varies remarkably – for instance, from the origins of the society of control and surveillance to the ethical implications of plastic surgery. Lectures are structured more as open dialogues, initiated by the tutor.”
