Committees

Environment and Sustainability Sub-Committee 2011-12

Terms of Reference

1 To oversee the College's management of environmental matters generally, including in particular the achievement of any relevant strategic planning targets, and to report to Estates Committee.

2 To oversee the College's environmental sustainability, overseeing such initiatives as Fairtrade University status.

3 To monitor and review the effectiveness of the [pdf], to facilitate its implementation, and to bring any deficiencies to the attention of Council, via Estates Committee.

4 To consider and advise Council, via Estates Committee, on the College Environmental Policy, and on compliance with current and impending environmental legislation.

5 In the discharge of all of the above functions, to report to Health and Safety Committee, in addition to Estates Committee, where environmental issues under consideration have implications for the College's discharge of its obligations under health and safety legislation and, where this applies, to ensure that Health and Safety Committee approval is obtained for any proposals being made to Council for new or revised policies.

Terms of office on committees are for three years, renewable for a second term. The letters "eot" against a person's name in membership listings indicates that he or she will reach the maximum term as a member of the body concerned at the date specified. Sometimes there is also reference to "eot Council": this will normally override any later termination date for the term of office on the particular committee.
