Any member of staff may apply to able to observe a meeting of Council, and dates for 2011-12 are given below. All meetings are held at 4pm and normally end by 6.30pm.
Requests to observe particular meetings can be sent to cgim@gold.ac.uk up to the deadline shown below for each meeting:
29 November 2011 - requests by 3pm on 18 November
29 March 2012 - requests by 3pm on 16 March
19 June 2012 - requests by 3pm on 7 June
Observer places will be allocated on a "first come, first served" basis, and booking is individual - ie there is no departmental allocation, or provision for staff to send "representatives" if they become unable to attend themselves after the deadline. There is at present no limit on the number of meetings a particular individual may book to attend, although this may be reconsidered in the event of particularly high demand.
Those attending will be informed of the location and any other detailed arrangements a few days after the deadline for booking. If it is necessary to refuse any requests because of insufficient space, the members of staff concerned will also be contacted by around the same time.
There is a separate procedure for UCU and UNISON representation (two places each), arrangements for which are made by CGIM with the Union officers.
