External Communications

We aim to ensure that the College’s image and reputation is accurately, positively and effectively represented to external audiences, whilst raising the profile of the College and its work.

Corporate branding and identity
Overseeing the College’s brand and visual identity; advising departments with regard to house style and the College’s Publications and Publicity Policy.

Marketing-related activities
Co-ordinating departmental and student recruitment advertising, publicity, and direct mail; writing and checking material for the web site; updating entries in directories; handling arrangements for publications produced under the Goldsmiths imprint.

Media relations
Pro-active and responsive media relations including: writing and issuing press releases; researching and placing articles; handling press calls; finding ‘experts’; issuing official statements to the press; producing the Experts Guide; assisting with press conferences; and monitoring, summarising and circulating press cuttings received via the cuttings service to heads of departments, Members of Council, and other interested parties.

PR-related activities
Supporting departments by providing advice and publicity for external events aimed at raising and creating a positive profile of the College; drafting editorial copy.

Publications
We produce: Undergraduate, Postgraduate, PACE and PGCE Prospectuses; Study in London Prospectus (in conjunction with the International Office); departmental student recruitment publicity (leaflets, posters and booklets); Introducing Goldsmiths booklet and other corporate publications.

Internal Communications

We aim to encourage good communication from top-down and bottom up, throughout the College. We are responsible for corporate communication to staff and students, including:

  • Co-ordinating the corporate e-mail communications for staff

  • Providing advice and co-ordinating arrangements for major consultation exercises

  • Managing web applications such as the telephone directory, events calendar, and the news on the staff and student homepages

  • Producing print publications including the Guide to Goldsmiths, the Stay Safe Guide, a student welcome pamphlet, as well as 'Hallmark', the newsletter for staff and students

  • Organising the Warden's Open Meetings.
