The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council has awarded the Centre a grant, under its Science Fellow in the Arts programe, to bring Dr. Mandayam Scrinvasan, the Director of the Touch Lab, MIT, USA, as a visiting fellow to work on Haptic Technology. Dr Mandayam Srinvasan is a world leader in the area of human and machine touch. His pioneering research over the past 20 years on the science and technology underlying information acquisition and object manipulation through touch has played a pivotal role in the emergence of the new and exciting field of Haptics.
The work he will do for the Centre will be done in conjunction with the Digital Studios both here at Goldsmiths College and at BT Exact in Ipswich. This is an important international project.
