PhD student and Research Assistant post for major ERC project: 'Bosnian Bones, Spanish Ghosts - Transitional Justice and the Legal Shaping of Memory after Two Modern Conflicts'
The Department of Anthropology at Goldsmiths, University of London, is looking to recruit a Research Assistant who will also pursue a PhD on related research for a major ERC project, 'Bosnian Bones, Spanish Ghosts - 'Transitional Justice and the Legal Shaping of Memory after Two Modern Conflicts', led by Principal Investigator, Dr Sari Wastell.
Proposals involving research to be undertaken in any part of Bosnia involving cultural memory, the legacies of wartime atrocity, 'transitional justice', and/or legal anthropology will be entertained. A previous degree in Anthropology at undergraduate or MA level or demonstrable equivalent expertise in the discipline is required. The post-holder will be required to undertake some part-time administrative and academic work in support of the project, as well as pursuing their PhD fulltime. The post is for 3 years, remunerated at spine point 27 0.5 FTE (aprox E17,000/year rising in increments over the three years, and including London weighting), but does not include a fee waiver. The incumbent will also enjoy a flat fieldwork allowance in the second year of E5000 and a further conference allowance grant of E500/yr for each of the three years. Attendance at the project conference in San Sebastian at the end of the third year, to include flights and accommodation, is also included in the costings, as the successful candidate will be expected to organise and convene one of the sessions.
Interested candidates are asked to submit an abbreviated project proposal of no more than 2000 words together with their CV as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed in order of receipt until an appropriate candidate is identified. The successful candidate will be asked to take up the post from 1 October 2009.
