Studentships
Whitehead Studentships
CSISP is able to offer one postgraduate research studentship of £3000 per annum for the academic year 2010-11. The studentships are expected to contribute to tuition fee costs of home, EU or overseas students not in receipt of Research Council grants or equivalent sources of funding. Both new and existing students may apply for such studentships.
Application Procedure
If you are applying for a place as a postgraduate research student in the Department please indicate in a covering letter, attached to your application form, that you wish to apply for a Whitehead studentship. You may apply for both ESRC and Whitehead studentships.
If you are an existing postgraduate research student you should provide:

a statement of your current research project

a curriculum vitae, including names of two referees

one piece of written work based on your current research

a statement in support of your application from your principal supervisor

a timetable for completion.

Further Information

Studentships can only be be held by full-time MPhil/PhD students working in any area of the Department's research. However, in awarding studentships, preference will be given to students working broadly within the research area of the Centre for the Study of Invention and Social Process.

The application deadline is 21st May 2010.

All postgraduate students are subject to the departmental and college annual review process.

Studentships may be renewed annually, and can be held for a maximum of three years.

Renewal of studentships is dependent on demonstrating that satisfactory progress has been made, including the preparation of sound research plans, and successful completion of coursework and upgrading.
