The research provided a qualitative analysis of the barriers to the inclusion
of women, particularly lone parents and women from black and minority ethnic
communities and women returners, in the construction industry manual trades.
It examined the attitudes and practices which maintained the gender imbalance
in the construction industry. The research made practical recommendations
on the measures to overcome the current exclusion of women from the construction
industry labour force.
