Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham HAZ was one of the first to be funded
under the Government's health inequalities initiative launched in 1997.
The LSL Health Authority covers one of the most deprived areas in the country
and over the past three years a number of projects and experiments in partnership
working have been put in place linking various departments of the three
local authorities, the health authority and voluntary groups. The initial
objectives of the HAZ were to impact on health inequalities and social
inclusion through the modernisation of services, working across traditional
boundaries between agencies and involving user groups in participation
at all levels. CUCR has been commissioned to provide an evaluation of the
work of the LSLHAZ over the next two years.
