Moira is a senior research associate in the CUCR and lecturer in Applied Linguistics in the English and Comparative Literature Department at Goldsmiths.

Moira's recent research on the role of interpreting and translation in the political asylum process in the UK has been funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. The research comprises an on-going ethnographically-based study of interpreters working within the asylum system in the UK, focusing on the macro-institutional and discursive features that impact on interpreting and translation activity across legal, political and educational contexts.

Moira's most recent research and publications focus on the sociology of language and translation and interpreting studies. She recently edited a special issue of The Translator on Bourdieu and the field of translation and interpreting and is currently working on a book, Interpreting Justice in a Global Context.
