About the images used on our site
The CCS banner images are by Graham Harwood, Practical Methods Lecturer - Interactive Media
The images are from the Tate web project "Uncomfortable proximity" (Harwood/Mongrel) the "Tantalum Memorial" (Harwood, Wright, Yokokoji) and the netmonster (harwood).
Netmonster is a floss robot that searches the internet and selects images, texts, links according to keywords such as "Nazi IBM Hollerith" or "me myself I". The robot returns thousands of images and texts and composites them together in a way that reflect the links between the keywords.
"As an artist who asks questions with images - I'm always looking for structural spaces within media systems to place my work. The intention is to ask questions of the images themselves and the context in which they sit and draw out the power relations that surround them.
I do not hold any particular moral or religious views on the images I use but rather see them as very precise ambiguities that both exist in the world and take part in it revealing some possibilities and closing down others, acting much like the media systems that contain them."
