Françoise Vergès was awarded the 2006 Françoise Seligmann Foundation Prize Against Racism for her last book, La Mémoire enchaînée. Questions sur l'esclavage (Paris : Albin Mcihel, 2006). She shares it with Esther Benbassa, Jean-Christophe Attias. The award ceremony was held in the Hotel de Ville Paris on 17 January 2007.
The Seligmann Prize Against Racism was created in 2004 by Françoise Seligmann, honorary president of the League for Human Rights in memory of her husband François-Gérard Seligmann. Both fought against Nazism and for the independence of Algeria.
