How do I avoid getting my bike getting stolen?
Have a quality lock and secure the bike in a brightly lit area. A quality D lock will cost at least £20. Lock both the front and back wheel to a solid object. It is best to lift the front wheel off the ground to stop malicious bending. The 'Sold Secure' mark products are categorized into Bronze, Silver and Gold. Locks with the gold mark offer at least 5 minutes resistance to thieves. Thieves are going to go for the easiest option. Don't leave you bike unlocked and take off accessories. School children will take what can be easily removed from a bike. Make a note of the frame number and taking a photograph of the bike in case it does get stolen. Lock your bike at night if it is stored in a back yard or shed. Advice from City Police on Theft Prevention
