The University has two Fellows placed with us from the Royal Literary Fund for 2011/2012.
Royal Literary Fund Fellows are professional writers who come into the University on certain days of the week to help students improve their essay-writing skills. The principal aim of the Fellow's work is to foster good writing practice across all disciplines and media. They are willing to help both undergraduates and postgraduates; so if you are writing good essays, and want to make them excellent, or if your essays are not quite good enough, and you want to make sure they are good, go along to see either Brian Keaney or Shelley Silas. For an appointment, stop by the Centre for English Language and Academic Writing (Room 204, Richard Hoggart Building); or call 020 7919 7763 and ask to book an appointment with the RLF Fellow.
Brian Keaney has written eighteen novels for children which have been published by Oxford University Press and Orchard Books. He has been shortlisted for the North East Book Award and the South Lanarkshire Children's Book Award and the NASEN Book Award. His novels have been translated into eleven languages. He has also written a number of plays for young people, which have been published by Stanley Thornes, as well as over forty books for educational publishers.
