Bill is a lecturer in Music Education. He co-ordinates the Music PGCE course and contributes to the undergraduate programme. He is a member of new Research Centre and Hearts project.

Previously Bill has been a senior lecturer in music and music education at Middlesex University, an advisory Teacher in Music at Merton/Kingston LEA and also head of Music at Merton LEA.

Bill has developed approaches to the application of music-related ICT in the classroom. He has contributed the Becta support materials (‘Music Technology in Action’) and has written the NOF funded music ICT training materials for Hull University. Bill's published articles in the area include an outline of music related ICT in the primary classroom and an overview for trainee teachers of how ICT can support teaching and learning in secondary music. His recent curriculum work in this area, an activity-based CDROM for Key Stage 3, is published by Heinemann. His current research focuses on the role that new technology plays in musical creativity.
