James is a lecturer in Education, he currently leads the PGCE Primary Partnership and is a course tutor on the Primary PGCE, SCITT programme, MA in Education: Culture, Language and Identity and BA (Hons) Education Studies programme.

He is a member of Centre for Identity and Social Justice

James gained both his MA in Education (Culture, Language and Identity) and PGCE from Goldsmiths in 2004.

Prior to joining the department in 2015, James held a range of coordinating and leadership roles including Senior Teacher, Key Stage Coordinator, a member of Senior Leadership Team and Senior Moderator for the London Borough of Lewisham, supporting teacher training and Primary statutory assessment.  

James taught across KS1 and KS2 for over 10 years in inner London primary schools.

He also taught English in nursery to higher education in a range of international settings. 

Research interests include coaching and mentoring, social class, social identities.
