Preventing Harassment and Bullying

Goldsmiths recognises that the problem of harassment and bullying threatens staff and students' health, wellbeing and contribution to the organisation and such behaviour will not be tolerated.

The Code to Combat Harassment and Bullying in the Working and Learning Environment exists to give guidelines of how:

  • all employees and students of the College have the right to be treated with consideration, dignity and respect at work and in the learning environment;

  • managers, staff and students have a joint responsibility to prevent and eliminate harassment and bullying on the grounds of race, colour, creed, nationality, age, social background, ethnic or national origin, gender, HIV status, marital status, sexuality, disability, political or religious views, appearance, trade union membership or non membership or on any other grounds;

  • College procedures exist for informal and formal resolution of complaints.

Any member of staff or student who feels they are being bullied or harassed may also seek confidential advice from the Harassment Advisors Network, Counselling Services, Multi-Faith Chaplaincy, Student Support Services or Students' Union Welfare.

Goldsmiths is currently working towards producing a Dignity at Work and Study Policy.
