The Faiths and Civil Society Unit, in partnership with De Montfort University launches its new ESRC/AHRC funded Faith, Youth and Civil Society Network.
FaithXChange is a research network with a focus on issues of relevance to young people and public faith. It builds on our earlier ESRC seminar series, ‘Faiths and Civil Society’, which networked academics, practitioners and policy makers with an interest in faith in the public realm.
It is a learning network that seeks to support research which can underpin policy and practice, particularly in work with and about ‘young people, faith and social action’. It aims to do so in the following ways:
- Building research capacity with young people
- Building research capacity with established professionals
- Pooling research resources on young people and public faith
The overarching themes for the network are:
- Young people’s participation and representation in public faith based activities
- The role of faith in the formation of young people’s identities
- Intergenerational differences in relation to faith and the impacts of this.
For further information on the network and events please see www.faithxchange.org.uk
We are currently planning the second in a series of events. Building Up - Research Capacity in 'Religion & Youth' will be held at Leeds University on 2nd July 2010. This event will present current research focused on religion and young people and will explore the issues and challenges arising from research in this field.
If you are interested in attending the event, please email m.shaw@gold.ac.uk. Spaces are limited, so please email soon to avoid disappointment.
