AGRESSO ENHANCEMENTS
On 1 November 2010 work started to enhance the current use of Agresso in three areas, namely raising internal orders, budgeting & forecasting and project costing & billing.
Implementation of Agresso’s INTERNAL ORDERS module will replace the current paper-based system which is out-dated and time consuming. This module will allow departments to order goods and services from other college departments by raising an electronic requisition in the same way as orders are placed with external suppliers. Requisitions will be authorised electronically as they are for external suppliers and the order will then be submitted to the supplying department to fulfil after which the requesting department will be asked to confirm receipt before the internal charge is raised. Initially it is intended to implement this module for orders placed with Design & Print Services, Estates and IT Services to go live at the end of January 2011 with other departments being added during the following months. At present a basic budgeting system is used within Agresso. Version 5.5 of the software includes a more comprehensive budgeting and forecasting module called PLANNER which will enable the college to improve it’s budgetary control and management reporting. Planning for the implementation of this module is in the early stages but it is anticipated that it will go live by the middle of April 2011 in time to load the budgets for the 2010/11 academic year. Finally Agresso’s PROJECT COSTING & BILLING module will be introduced to enhance the project accounting process for both research & capital projects and to provide better management reporting especially in respect of life-to-date data. Again, planning for the implementation of this module is in the early stages but it is anticipated that it will go live by the end of June 2011. Progress on each of these projects will be reported regularly here on the Finance Department’s web pages and at meetings of the Agresso User Group the next of which is scheduled for 12 January.
