The Learning Enhancement Unit aims to provide all staff and students with scholarly, informed and principled guidance in relation to learning and teaching.
- the Gold Award, promoting student personal and professional development
- Peer Assisted Learning, providing an extra level of support to all new students
- accredited programmes in learning and teaching in Higher Education (PG Certificate, Diploma and MA). These are accredited both by Goldsmiths and by the Higher Education Academy.
- assistance with teaching-related funding bids.
- developmental workshops.
- the Peake Awards for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, to reward and disseminate good practice.
- funded fellowships for developmental teaching projects
- help in explaining to prospective students how they’ll learn, and why.
- informed support for changes in teaching practice: delivery and assessment, curriculum development, and the use of learning technology.

Professional recognition. The HEA also offers the following levels of professional recognition - Associate, Fellow, Senior Fellow and Principal Fellow of the HEA. This corresponds to the recently revised UK Professional Standards Framework.
