Deter and detect plagiarism
Time spent on plagiarism prevention can save academic’s time in detection. Anti-plagiarism measures such as training learners, and creating appropriate assessment, can also have far wider pedagogic benefits.
Deter and detect plagiarism [pdf] was developed by Goldsmiths’ Learning Enhancement Unit using both advice from Goldsmiths’ academic staff and published research.
More general information and guidance on assessment issues is available.
Electronic plagiarism detection
Turnitin compares student’s work to a range of other electronic sources (including other students' work) and highlights potential matches between texts. Goldsmiths subscribes to this service, which can be accessed through learn.gold. See this learn.gold page for details.
Staff training
Workshops for tutors on plagiarism issues, including definition, deterrence and
detection, are offered by Goldsmiths’ Learning Enhancement Unit. We can offer bespoke versions to address specific departmental needs. Contact
tel.gleu@gold.ac.uk for further information.
