Student Support

GLEU works closely with the other agencies at Goldsmiths that support the wider learning experience; such as the Students’ Union, Student Services and the Careers Service.

Student Personal Development

The unit works with students and staff on two schemes that support student personal and professional development. The 3D Graduate Scheme provides students with tools and materials for reflection, planning and self-directed learning during their time completing their programme. The Gold Award which was introduced in 2009/10 recognises and rewards students who develop transferable skills through extra-curricular activities.

GLEU offer a range of workshops and training sessions, on request, for students and staff who are delivering or participating in these personal development opportunities.

Best Practice Guides

Working in conjunction with Student Services, a number of best practice handbooks have been developed for academic staff ; including the Accessible Learning and Teaching Strategies handbook and the Personal Tutoring Handbook (currently under revision).

Working with the Professional and Support Services

GLEU works closely with Staff Development in supporting professional and support services staff at Goldsmiths.

We assist in the coordination of Goldsmiths Administrators Forum (GAF), which meets each term to support the professional services by offering opportunities for networking, sharing best practice and disseminating information related to the wider HE sector. GLEU also works to encourage and stimulate professional development by promoting the work of professional development agencies such as the national Association of University Administrators (AUA) and managing Goldsmiths’ AUA Branch.
