The 3D Graduate website
A website supporting 3D Graduate has been developed by the LTO with assistance and input from IT Services, the Careers Service, Student Support, Students’ Union, academic staff and others. The website is the home for materials supporting PDP and helps students and staff in identifying the wide range of agencies and opportunities at Goldsmiths that exist to support the student learning experience.
Students should be referred to the website by their tutors but engagement with the website should not be a student’s only form of exposure to 3D Graduate processes. As discussed previously, students should be offered 3D Graduate and PDP-type initiatives through strategies integrated into departmental approaches to learning and teaching. The website is a tool to further assist students in managing their learning experience and to provide additional tools and opportunities to assist them in the self-management of their personal, academic and career development.
The website comprises the following interlinked areas:
- Opportunities: Providing the links to the agencies in the Goldsmiths that support the student learning and wider experience, such as Counselling, Careers Service, Language Studies Centre, the Students’ Union and more. This area highlights the range of workshops, events and other support available to students.
- Portfolio: Providing students with a space to keep an online portfolio to act as a record of their development.
- Tools: Contains generic materials that have been developed to support students in self-directed PDP. Students have the option of saving the materials in a physical folder or in an online portfolio. Organised into three areas: broadly ‘Understanding Yourself’ assists students to the modes of learning that they will need for university study, ‘Maximize Yourself’ shows students how they can develop transferable skills and values through extra-curricular activity and ‘Make it Happen’ provides tools relating to employability and career development.
In short:
- The website provides the opportunity for students’ self-directed engagement in PDP activities and can assist students in the development of 3D Graduate attributes;
- The site is the best way for students to find about the support and opportunities available to them. It can assist them in their academic development and provides useful tools and information when they are ready to start thinking about their career;
- Students have the option of keeping an e-portfolio through the website.
