Why should we integrate technology-enhanced Learning?

In the grand scheme of things, the use of information and communication technologies to support learning is new. There are many needs which motivate us to adopt different technologies to to support different learning and teaching needs, including their ever-unfolding potential to transcend time and distance, to visualise and process data, to perform, and to collaborate. The potential benefits of appropriately-designed TEL include:

  • Flexibility of access, time, place and format;
  • Space to reflect;
  • Sharing of resources;
  • New opportunities for authorship and readership or audience;
  • New opportunities to become active learners.
