The Warden

The duties of the Warden are formally defined in the Charters & Statutes (see Statute 10).

Council has also specified the Role and Duties of the Warden in relation to Council, and these are set out in the Council Member pages.

Pro-Wardens

The procedures for the appointment of Pro-Wardens were agreed by Council in July 2003, with modified arrangements introduced at the meeting in June 2009 to delegate to the Warden authority to define the detailed responsibilities of Pro-Wardens.

Pro-Wardens also have line management responsibility for several academic departments and independent units.

Revised statutory provisions for the Pro-Wardens were introduced on 1 September 2007, and on 1 September 2010 the Statutes were further amended to include the role of Deputy Warden (which in the previous year had been specified by Ordinance).

Within the framework of the statutory provisions, the  Roles of the Pro-Wardens are defined by the Warden. 

A number of General Regulations specify that a particular task should be carried out by a Pro-Warden appointed by the Warden. Since 2007-08 the Warden has published annually a list of tasks assigned to the Pro-Wardens under the General Regulations and certain other Regulations

The Senior Management Team

The Senior Management Team is responsible for advising the Warden on the day-to-day management of the College. It also has delegated authority in making some day-to-day resource allocation decisions, as indicated by its terms of reference (approved by Council on 29 June 2006, with minor amendments since).
