Department of History

Our programmes

We offer an exciting range of degree programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They are taught either by staff from within the Department or in collaboration with specialist staff from other academic departments of the College. Subjects covered by the courses offered on the programmes range from medieval Europe to the second world war, from early modern religion to contemporary morality, and from African histories to art in the Soviet Union.

Students may take a single honours in History, or joint honours in History and Politics, English or Anthropology. All third year students have a choice of options for their Special Subject (a documents based course, with a researched dissertation) selected from across the University of London.

We also offer a taught Masters programme in History and a Master of Research programme that provides an opportunity to undertake personal research supported by a smaller taught element.

The department is happy to receive both formal and informal enquiries from all prospective students.

"The unit options were flexible enough for me to focus on my areas of
interest and delve deeper into topics that I wanted to pursue."
