Student profiles
Lorana Vallerius
Originally from Berlin, Lorena spent the past 4 years living in Barcelona, achieving a BA in Interior Design at La Llotja, the former art school of Picasso. During this period she concentrated on event and exhibition design and worked constantly for various design institutions and projects around Berlin and Barcelona. Through her involvement with exhibition space design, she discovered that the curating and managing aspects of gallery and exhibition projects could be as creative and stimulating as the actual design practice itself. At the 1.Berliner Kunstsalon, the leading forum for non-commercial art in Berlin, Lorena was the project’s secretary, followed by a period working at the Engler und Piper Gallery. She joined the team at Illustrative Zurich 08 and then as Exhibition Designer at Illustrative Berlin 09, Europe’s premier festival of contemporary illustration and graphic design whilst working for the Johannsen Gallery.
Through these various experiences in both interior design and art management, Lorena developed the idea to launch her own project that would bring the two sectors together. The MA at Goldsmiths was invaluable in assisting and encouraging her to articulate and plan her business ideas: ³Raum will involve European designers, interior design and tourism in Berlin; if you are curious and would like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact Lorena at lorena.vallerius@gmail.com
