Rafaela Cappai
Rafaela Cappai is an actress, dancer, journalist and cultural entrepreneur. As her study background, has a BA in Communications (2001), a Post-Graduation in Marketing (2008), and an unfinished BA in Drama, which still gave her a very good experience and fun! Rafaela also participated in the EMPRETEC Seminar (2008) developed by the United Nations to teach behaviour entrepreneurial skills to a selected number of entrepreneurs around the world.
Rafaela developed projects and performing arts plays, acting as an executive producer and performer. She extensively researched about the Brazilian funding system, and had successfully received a great number of grants and sponsorships, either from the government and private companies. During three years Rafaela had the chance to be a business owner of a cultural agency, but have to leave the partnership for personal matters, although the chance of being an owner built her confidence to the next step. She worked also as an event planner and project manager, delivering corporate events to clients such as Peugeot and Siemens; as a producer of FIT, a large scale International Theatre Festival, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil; and as a TV journalist, as a host, reporter, producer and writer in a small community TV channel, which gave her a wide experience in the whole chain of producing TV shows.
During the MA Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship Rafaela is reporting all personal and educational experience in her blog, with chancery of the Secretary of Culture of Minas Gerais and sponsorship of the mobile company Vivo, trough the Conexão Vivo project. During her studies she hopes to develop the non-governmental organization Espaçonave (meaning Spaceship), which aims to foster Brazilian entrepreneurship in the artistic and cultural sector.
In return to Brazil, Rafaela plans to transform Espaçonave into a network, a venue and an incubator, and create a cross-cultural collective, in partnership with other artists. While in London she has her eyes wide open to business modelling, co working, new theatre writing, arts collectives, arts networks, funding and arts incubators.
