Silvia Mircevski
Silvia was born in Sydney, Australia of immigrant parents and was the first of her family to be university educated. After obtaining a B.A. Communications at The University of Technology, Sydney, she worked as a graphic designer in the arts, fashion and health sectors. She left Australia to travel through Africa and Europe and ended up settling in London to further pursue her career in design and art direction at a very exciting time when these industries were thriving. Her clients included many luxury brands and blue chip companies, who she helped in the development of brand identity as well as related strategy and collateral.
However, a life spent witnessing and straddling social divisions has cultivated an empathy, understanding and drive to champion the underdog. These political inclinations led her to steer her career towards ethical projects in order to contribute to more socially-conscienced design. She participated and led projects in progressive areas such as urban regeneration initiatives, improving standards of adult education and environmental education for primary school children.
Wanting to be more instrumental still in promoting social change, after another period spent travelling, this time through South America, Silvia undertook the M.A. Creative & Cultural Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths in order to build frameworks for her future entrepreneurial ventures.
Her current interests include enabling design communities to harness the power of play, experimentation, improvisation, co-emergence, collaboration and co-design. These elements, leveraged by emerging technologies, would foster a paradigm shift toward wholly environmentally sustainable design. These are the goals of her next project.
