Born and raised in Taiwan, Chun-Ying received her bachelor degrees in both philosophy and sociology from National Taiwan University. Before studying in Goldsmiths, she was the Front of House Coordinator in National Theatre and Concert Hall in Taipei.

The MA program provided Chun-Ying with great perspectives in arts and culture. She also further enhanced critical thinking skills on cultural policy. The study and living experience in London as a whole shaped her interests in cultural identity in particular.

After graduation in 2008, Chun-Ying briefly worked for Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra, and then she joined Council for Cultural Affairs (Taiwan) as a project executive in Taiwan Life Arts Movement. The professional life in the Council provided her an opportunity to engage in the process of policy making and practice. Still passionate with the pursuit for research career, she returned to Goldsmiths and started her doctoral research in 2010. Her project is awarded the Scholarship for Oversea Study from the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. In the future, Chun-Ying aspires to dedicate herself in forming and implementing cultural diplomacy strategies in public sector or in academia.
