Giulia Piu

Giulia is a designer, a creative thinker and a problem solver. Her background is in industrial and communication design where she learned how to apply user-centred design techniques to find innovative solutions for complex problems through user participation.

Since her graduation at Politecnico di Milano, Giulia worked at digital consultancy companies in Milan. Soon she moved to London in search for bigger challenges and worked for some of the best digital agencies in Europe, LBi and Fjord, on a variety of challenging and multi-device projects for clients in many industries, including the NHS, Unilever, Sony, Barclays, Samsung, British Gas, National Grid, and Skype.

Her job title has changed a number of times over the past 8 years: User Experience Designer, Art Director, HCI, User Experience Architect, User Experience Researcher and Interaction Designer. The only constant was the focus on the User in the design process, while making the project a success for the business.
Her curiosity and willingness to make a positive change to the world, has led her to re-invent herself over time in the restless quest for a way to use her skills and knowledge to design things that are meaningful for the people they are addressed at and that may help improve the world we live in.

At present, Giulia is fascinated by the possibilities that real time web and social technologies are bringing to businesses, society and culture overall and is keen to explore how social and cultural projects can benefit from innovative design approaches that harness collective engagement and knowledge to design innovative and socially valuable services.

For this reason she has decided to pursue the MA in Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths College, where she is exploring what is happening at the intersection between technology, policy and culture and how to make peoples collective ideas come to life.
