Petra Havelska

Petra has studied architecture at Vienna University of Technology and KTH School of Architecture in Stockholm before moving to London to gain work experience (FoRM Associates, John McAslan & Partners). Her interest in public spaces and independent way of working led her to set off as freelance practitioner, collaborating with urban designers and developing her own projects.

In an increasingly privatized and controlled urban environment, Petra is looking into reclaiming public spaces and educating people towards developing a sense of ownership for the common spaces, through creating, nurturing and maintaining their own environment. In 2008 she was a contributor at the City Interventions proposals initiative in her native city of Bratislava, Slovakia. Petra has also actively participated at two Havana Urban Design Charrettes in Cuba, focusing on ideas for regenerating the non-working harbor areas and extensive site research.

She joined the Creative Entrepreneurship course in September 2009 in order to explore the possibilities of grounding her passionate interest in public spaces within business, innovation and education platforms.

Petra has a strong visual background and amongst her other work she is also involved in web design and graphic design projects. She has founded Lightroom London in 2008 as an umbrella for these projects.
