Plyawat Thankulangkool
Piyawat Thamkulangkool’s first degree was in Drama from Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand. Since then, Piyawat worked as a workshop facilitator, project coordinator, actor and lighting technician at The Art and Cultural Institute for Development: MAYA in Bangkok, a not for profit organisation that utilises art activities, especially drama, as a tools for development. Afterwards, Piyawat worked in event management business as a project executive, responsible for new product launches and events before making a decision to further study Japanese in Tokyo. Past employment also included a project manager taking a responsibility in conducting many event projects, particularly projects of Thai governmental offices in Japan.
After working for almost ten years in both Thailand and Japan, Piyawat wanted to broaden his experiences and expand his horizons for future growth. Studying the MA in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy at Goldsmiths fulfilled all expectations and encouraged Piyawat to think outside of the box. The practical course introduced new aspects of arts administration that prove interesting and inspired him to return to his home country, Thailand to create his own creative business. Piyawat is also lecturing at a leading university in Bangkok as well as freelance co-producing advertising film for a production house.
