Since graduating with an MA in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy from Goldsmiths in 2005, Rhian has gone on to have a successful career in arts marketing.
She began her career working as Marketing Assistant and then Marketing Officer at Tara Arts (2006 – 2008), a touring theatre company based in South London that has pioneered cross-cultural theatre for over three decades. During her time at Tara she helped to establish the Tara Studio as a new venue presenting theatre for local audiences in Earlsfield. She also worked on West End transfers of The Tempest and Nowhere to Belong. From Tara, Rhian went on to join Immediate Theatre as Marketing and Development Officer (2008 – 2010). Immediate Theatre work with communities and young people in Hackney and East London to ensure access for all to arts activities that break down barriers and engage people in debate.
At Immediate, Rhian developed her knowledge of community engagement and youth led marketing. As well as developing brand awareness within the company, her main achievements were developing a new company website and launching the Theatre in Schools Partnership (TiSP). In 2010, Rhian joined the Albany in Deptford as Marketing Manager. The Albany is a vibrant arts venue driven by the cultural diversity and creative mix of South East London with a strong reputation for diverse programming and being a home and seeding ground for creative development. Rhian leads the Marketing Department at the Albany, managing all core marketing activity for the venue, show specific campaigns, audience development and press whilst also contributing to the strategic development of the organisation.
