Having a passion for music, Sarah Hanratty’s undergraduate music degree was followed by a year in the finance industry that confirmed her belief and enthusiasm for the arts.
The Masters in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy at Goldsmiths, University of London seemed like the perfect combination of academic study and opportunity to interact with arts organisations and alumni who had forged their career in the arts sector. The course attracts students from all over the world, allowing valuable contact to be formed by students from a vast array of cultural backgrounds to ignite ideas and inspire collaboration.
Sarah took the plunge and moved from the English countryside to lively London and has thoroughly enjoyed the cultural opportunities the fantastic capital has to offer. Whilst studying at Goldsmiths, she interned at the Musicians Benevolent Fund and Battersea Arts Centre as well as working at The British Museum. The opportunities and network connections the course has created have been invaluable and numerous, providing an ideal springboard for a career in the arts.
After graduating from the course in 2010, Sarah undertook employment at Goldsmiths and now works at the Royal College of Music as Assistant to the Directors of Finance & Estates, Communications and Development. This exciting role requires knowledge and understanding of several aspects of administration, key skills that were cemented by the course at Goldsmiths and an ideal employment opportunity to let her creative ideas, musical background and professional interest flourish.
