MA Anthropology & Cultural Politics

"As soon as I read about Goldsmiths I knew I was in front of something particularly different, a place of avant-garde."

I spent more than 3 months reading about anthropology departments and MA programs in the UK to ensure I made the perfect choice for me. As soon as I read about Goldsmiths I knew I was in front of something particularly different, a place of avant-garde. I was happy to confirm that the program and the professors from the anthropology department embody a strong critic spirit and a wide interdisciplinary perspective that address the best of the anthropological towards an understanding of contemporary societies. Although this is not particular for the department, attending conferences, plays and reading film clubs I could realise that this spirit run about all over the place!

MA Screen Documentary

"I came to London searching for open minded teachers who would push me to my highest potential. I found them at Goldsmiths."

I first heard about Goldsmiths through a Colombian friend who had attended as international student while doing her BA back at Los Andes University.  When I was researching for the best media option in the UK, I landed on the Goldsmiths website and remembered all the good references I had received from my friend. I applied to do an MA in Screen Documentary and got in! I was extremely proud of myself. Being at Goldsmiths is a dream come true.

Since arriving I feel my spirit has lifted up again. As well as its high academic standards and the fact I found precisely the Masters I was looking for, I feel constantly challenged and inspired by the arty and creative atmosphere you feel around campus. Its 'edgy' location constantly shows you how real London is, and I love it. It's a metaphor and a reminder that if you want to be a journalist and a good storyteller, you must never forget, no matter how at ease you feel, that the real stories are always outside your comfort zone. When at Goldsmiths you discover the real London! I came to London searching for open minded teachers who would push me to my highest potential. I found them at Goldsmiths.

MA Photography & Urban Cultures

I continued the previous work I was developing into a deeper symbolism and geometrical analysis about humans, politics and space in Colombia and the world. The long-term project titled 'The Invisible Man, the Invisible City' involves the production of a series of images and written texts about the nature of private and public spaces, with particular reference to artistic practices. This project tries to reflect on the ethical and legal debate on photography and artistic practices. It is complemented with photographic installations and interventions into the urban space, located in different, typical spots of London and imbued with ethnographic experience and practical expertise.
