Integrated Degree in Psychology

"In addition to an inspiring environment, a friendly atmosphere at Goldsmiths enabled me to quickly establish an excellent group of friends, which makes the education experience even more enjoyable."

I have chosen to study Psychology as it not only offers extremely wide-ranging career opportunities, but also is the subject you can truly relate to on a daily basis. Having joined Goldsmiths as a mature student, I found it very important that the lecturers are highly experienced, have a very high degree of knowledge, and actively encourage students to continue learning outside university hours to make the most of the student years. In addition to an inspiring environment, a friendly atmosphere in the College enabled me to quickly establish an excellent group of friends which makes the education experience even more enjoyable.

MA Digital Media: Technology & Cultural Form

"The programme is very inspiring and intellectually provocative. The most beneficial ingredients are its theoretical scope and multidisciplinary attitude."

Goldsmiths has a positively 'out of the ordinary', encouraging and amicable atmosphere. It certainly reshapes the mind, and allows experiencing and enjoying the curriculum activities afresh, far beyond the stereotypical frameworks and commonplace tasks.

My educational background includes two Bachelor degrees – the first one is in International Law received from the Russian University, and the most recent, in Photography, obtained from London College of Communication. However being very much engaged in cultural and media studies, I consider myself primarily as a visual artist, who finds inspiration in theory and contemporary philosophy.

The MA is very inspiring and intellectually provocative, although intense in the academic challenges it poses. The most beneficial ingredients of the programme are its theoretical scope and multidisciplinary attitude. The range of themes varies remarkably – for instance, from the origins of the society of control and surveillance to the ethical implications of plastic surgeries, from ideas about psychosomatic reaction to digital environments, and to the modes of human-machine co-existence.

Lectures are structured more as open dialogues, initiated by the tutor. Such educational scheme certainly welcomes externalization of opinions by students, and catalyzes fruitful discussions. Another essential characteristic of the course is the tutors’ commitment to academic pursuits, their passion to deliver knowledge, and to encourage students to be absorbed in studying.

I wanted a theory based course that would give me the freedom to express myself, and that's exactly what I've found in the MA in Fashion. I'm really interested in filmmaking and I love the fact that for our first assignment, we get the option to make a film instead of writing an essay.
