Bongkoch, MA Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship

"I have been studying and working in art and design for more than a decade. My previous position in design industry was an Art Director at JWT Bangkok, an internationally run agency with many high profiles. I worked in Direct Marketing Department (DM), and I was responsible for creation and design in Direct Marketing media (DM, Newspaper advertising, brand identity and all kinds of print media) on many International clients such as Pfizer, Hutch, Motorola, Mc Donald, AIA, Thai Airways. My 5 years working in advertising agencies and publishing companies have enabled me to gain an intensive understanding of advertising strategies, design principles, and the printing process.

Although, I found myself really enjoyed being challenged by all the works I had been creating I was willing to learn more about others' understanding in creativity of people who comes from different culture and background. Furthermore, my next step in design industry as a creative entrepreneur is an effective inspiration which encourages me to explore the world in order to develop my idea, vision and creativity.

By the time I have studied at Goldsmiths, University of London, I have been given a lot of opportunities to experiment new knowledge and exchange ideas with people from the other side of the world. Additionally, one of the great experiences I have obtained is a chance to work as a design intern at Saatchi & Saatchi design, London. It personally built up my confidence for my future career, also revealed my curiousness about how creativity and design agency works in different culture and background.

I will never stop creating and designing as it becomes part of my life and my new vision and understanding of creativity will support me to reach my next prospect effectively."

Rabhi, MA Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship (Design pathway)

"It's very difficult for me to find a course that can fulfil my needs since i've been working in a real estate development company as an Assistant Director for five years. It's crucial for me to learn both theoretical and practical aspects – which are, in my opinion, the right way to learn. That's why it took me two years to find the right course.

During studying, I've found that this is the right place and I've made the right decision. So I'm very proud to be here. The main reason for me is that it’s a perfect combination of department staff. For example, in ICCE, one teacher specialises in knowledge, another teacher specialises in know-how. The combination from both of them is perfect. In the Design Department, one teacher specialises in using an instinctive approach, another teacher specialises in using a logical and theoretical approach, and another teacher specialises in using a practical approach. Again, the combination of them is perfect.

The way of teaching is also superior. If learning by doing is the best way to allow students to learn by their heart, they will definitely learn by the heart here. Cultural diversity is also another advantage of being in Goldsmiths as you will meet a lot of people from around the world and learn how to work with them in a team.

The overall atmosphere gives me a casual feeling but an academic sphere is professional. Although the workshop has limited space, the essential equipment is there from the old-fashioned tools to laser cutting and rapid prototyping. Again, all department staff are very friendly and helpful. I Love Goldsmiths! :)"

Atchara, MSc Organisational Behaviour

"Before coming to Goldsmiths, I was working as a human resource officer in Royal Thai government, and I get a scholarship to study in the U.K. It is also the first time that I go outside my country to study. I think I made a good decision to study here, at Goldsmiths.

I chose to study here because of its good reputation in Psychology. However, I got my first impression from the College when I was studying in a pre-sessional English course. Lecturers and staff I’ve met have been very helpful. I also have had a good opportunity to meet many international students, and we’ve become good friends. Living in halls of residence is also nice. It has a good mix of students’ nationalities. You can make foreign friends and learn more about their culture.

The course I am studying is MSc Organisational Behaviour, which is a parallel course of MSc Occupational Psychology. It is very challenging and interesting, with a very good combination of both psychology and business contents. We study about people and organisations, how we can recruit, train and retain good employees in our companies. Also, we learn how to make employees happy and have a good performance at work. The course is also tough, and it requires much effort and time. However, it is worth it. Academics and staff in the Psychology department are also very nice. They are willing to help when you have a problem."
