Shop
On campus, the Students' Union run a shop selling a range of goods including stationery items, clothing, newspapers and magazines such as 'Time Out', which contains useful information about events in London.
Fitness on campus
Clubpulse at Goldsmiths is an onsite fitness suite with a range of exercise stations including cardiovascular and resistance weights. There is also a dance studio offering a range of fitness classes. For more information, see Clubpulse (link opens a new browser window).
Supermarkets
Iceland is located between Loring Hall and Deptford Town Hall Building (on the opposite side of the road). It opens at 09.00, Monday to Saturday and is ideal for sandwiches, snacks, drinks and frozen goods, all at reasonable prices.
Sainsbury's, which opens at 08.00, Monday to Saturday (10.00-16.00 Sunday), is a much larger supermarket, and is located just past New Cross Gate Station (lays back on the right). There is a large media section selling the latest chart CDs, DVDs, videos and books, and a magazine section with local and national newspapers, as well as a pharmacy. You can also buy items such as batteries and telephone cards, usually cheaper than at other local shops or outlets.
At Sainsbury's you will also find a large café / restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and evening meals. This is reasonably priced and offers good deals after 17.00.
Shopping centre
Lewisham Shopping Centre has a large range of well-known shops, and is open seven days a week. Lewisham is easily reached from New Cross Station, or by the number 21, 36 or 436 buses from the bus stop on New Cross Road.
Street market
Deptford Market is the closest market to Goldsmiths, a quarter of a mile past New Cross Station (on the right), and has market days on Wednesday and Saturday. Here you will find a varied array of stalls and shops, selling items much reduced from store prices. You will also find a varied range of food outlets, selling items from all around the world, including meat, fish, fruit and vegetables.
